Installing Vagrant VMware Utility

1. View the main reference for Vagrant and VMware
2. The Vagrant VMware Desktop provider requires installation of the Vagrant VMware Utility package. Download and install the appropriate system package from the downloads page.
3. Buy the license for the Vagrant VMware utility
4. Download the Vagrant VMware utility
   1. Go to https://www.vagrantup.com/vmware/downloads.html
   2. Select MacOS 64-bit
   3. Download vagrant-wmware-utility….dmg
   4. Install the ….pkg
5. After the Vagrant VMware Utility has been installed, the Vagrant VMware Desktop provider can be installed using the standard plugin installation procedure:
   • vagrant plugin install vagrant-vmware-desktop
   • tonys-mbp:ansibletutorial tonymays$ vagrant plugin install vagrant-vmware-desktop Installing the 'vagrant-vmware-desktop' plugin. This can take a few minutes... Fetching: vagrant-vmware-desktop-2.0.3.gem (100%) Installed the plugin 'vagrant-vmware-desktop (2.0.3)'!
6. After installing the Vagrant VMware Desktop plugin, you will need to install the license
   • The license download url is sent thru email after being purchased
7. After downloading the file, you can install the license file
   1. vagrant plugin license vagrant-vmware-desktop ~/license.lic
   2. The first parameter is the name of the plugin, and the second parameter is the path to the license file on disk. Please be sure to replace ~/license.lic with the path where you temporarily saved the downloaded license file to disk.
   3. After you have installed the plugin license, you may remove the temporary file.
      • tonys-mbp:~ tonymays$ vagrant plugin license vagrant-vmware-desktop /Users/tonymays/Downloads/license.lic Installing license for 'vagrant-vmware-desktop'... The license for 'vagrant-vmware-desktop' was successfully installed!
8. To verify the license installation, run:
   • If the license is not installed correctly, you will see an error message
   • vagrant plugin list
   • tonys-mbp:~ tonymays$ vagrant plugin list vagrant-vmware-desktop (2.0.3, global)
